HC Deb 01 December 1970 vol 807 c367W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in view of the impending increase in the fee for driving tests, he will now consider relaxing the rule under which an emergency illness is unacceptable as a reason for not giving the minimum notice of cancellation without loss of fee; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peyton

No. Although I am sympathetic towards those concerned, the rule was introduced to deal with a very bad situation.
