§ 65. Mr. Onslowasked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will publish in the Official Report an analysis, by Departments, of the increases and decreases in the number of non-industrial civil servants which have been forecast for the year beginning April, 1970.
§ Mr. Shore:Yes. The increase of 7,500 in the total non-industrial manpower ceiling from a base at 1st April. 1970 of 496,500, as announced by my right hon. Friend on 14th April, reflects the following changes in the corresponding Depart. mental ceilings. The figures take into account the effect of the machinery of government changes in October, 1969, and the establishment of the Department for National Savings and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on 1st October, 1969.
