HC Deb 29 April 1970 vol 800 c359W
Mr. Rose

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action has been recommended by his Department to ensure improved communications and other aspects of quality emergency medical response systems in order to avoid delays following road accidents.

Dr. John Dunwoody:

Satisfactory arrangements for calling out ambulance services already exist, and these make wide use of radio communication. Accident and emergency hospital services are being progressively concentrated at major centres, fully equipped and manned 24 hours a day; ambulance services take road accident casualties direct to those centres. I would also refer my hon. Friend to my reply to the hon. Member for Richmond (Mr. A. Royle) on 13th April.—[Vol. 799, c. 157-8.]
