HC Deb 29 April 1970 vol 800 cc336-7W
Mr. Gwynfor Evans

Mr. Carmichael:

Since November, 1964, 221 advance factories have been authorised by the Board of Trade or Ministry of Technology—105 in England, 64 in Scotland and 52 in Wales. The number of these factories in production is 45 in England, 34 in Scotland, and 29 in Wales—a total of 108.

At the last count, employment in those 108 factories was

Male Female Total
England 2,670 1,320 3,990
Scotland 1,200 2,050 3,250
Wales 1,360 620 1,980

Many of these factories have still to recruit their full complement of workpeople.
