HC Deb 28 April 1970 vol 800 c276W
Mr. Rose

asked the Minister of Transport if he will initiate a large scale campaign of road safety propaganda and instruction enlisting the support of voluntary organisations, police, schools and local authorities.

Mr. Bob Brown

This has been Government policy for some years. Within the last two years it has been given fresh impetus by the institution of a sustained road safety publicity campaign costing about £1 million a year and the widespread dissemination of instructional literature, notably a revised Highway Code and a Driving Manual. The Ministry provides financial support to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and has good co-operation with the Society as well as police, schools and local authorities
