HC Deb 28 April 1970 vol 800 c264W
38. Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Minister of Transport how many representations he has received regarding the impact of the new regulations regarding drivers' hours on the agricultural industry in Scotland; and what replies he has sent.

Mr. Murray

We have had representations from several hon. Members and from trade associations, mainly about difficulties over the carriage of livestock. I am prepared to look further into this and, as my hon. Friend the Joint Under-Secretary for Scotland announced last week, a meeting is being arranged in Scotland with the trade associations concerned.—[Vol. 800, c. 403.]

54. Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Minister of Transport what representations he has received from Scotland regarding the effect on livestock haulage of the restriction in drivers' hours as a result of the Transport Act, 1968.

Mr. Murray

We have received complaints from several hon. Members and from the National Farmers Union of Scotland that the reduction in drivers' hours is causing difficulties in the carriage of livestock. As I have already said, I am prepared to look further into this, and a meeting is being arranged in Scotland with the trade associations concerned.
