asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many applications his Department received during 1969 for grants in respect of the purchase of new tractors and self-propelled machines, and of work done under each of the schemes affected by the unified Capital Grant Scheme.

Mr. Ross

In 1969 the Department received 4,221 applications for investment grant on tractors and self-propelled harvesters in Scotland. The total number of applications approved during 1969 under schemes which will be affected by the proposed Farm Capital Grant Scheme was 14,240, made up as follows:
