Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will make an estimate of the yield to be obtained from taxation of supplementary benefits, and of the cost of collecting such taxation.

Mr. Taverne:

I cannot make an estimate; but the yield is unlikely to be large, and the cost of collection would be disproportionately high.
