§ Mr. Maurice Macmillanasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether the report investigating the seasonal adjustment of unemployment figures was completed in 1969; and when she intends to publish the conclusions.
§ Mr. Dell:The report was completed in February, 1970. The recommendation that a new method of seasonal adjustment should be adopted has been accepted, and a short description of the new method will be published in the April issue of theEmployment and Productivity Gazette.Provisional estimates calculated by the new method were issued in a Press notice on 23rd April.
