HC Deb 24 April 1970 vol 800 cc175-6W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will now make a further statement on action taken to bring about the apprehension of Ronald Biggs, an escaped prisoner; and whether he will institute procedings against Biggs and others connected with the great train robbery for the murder of the train driver.

Mr. Elystan Morgan:

The police continue to make every effort to trace this man. The second part of the Question is for my right hon. and learned Friend the Attorney-General, but I understand that since the death did not occur within a year and a day of the criminal attack such proceedings would not in any event be possible.
