HC Deb 24 April 1970 vol 800 cc189-90W
Mr. Fortescue

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what use his Department makes of the National Giro for regular payments of salaries and pensions, and for other purposes; and, in view of the under-used capacity of Giro, whether he will consider using it more.

Mr. George Thomas:

No payments of salaries and very few payments for other purposes are made through Giro. No pension payments are made by the department. I am considering the possibility of extending the use of Giro.
