HC Deb 21 April 1970 vol 800 c80W
39. Mr. Willey

asked the Secretary of State for Local Government and Regional Planning what progress has been made by the Northern Economic Planning Council on their study of the Tyneside-Wearside area.

Mr. Urwin:

No such study is being made by the Planning Council. However, as recommended by the council in its regional study, a full land-use and transportation survey of the area, which includes studies of its economic base and prospects, is being carried out by consultants commissioned by the Government and local planning authorities jointly.

I understand that a report relating to the period to 1981 will be available by the end of this year, and that the full study is likely to be completed in 1972.
