HC Deb 21 April 1970 vol 800 c93W
Mr. Blaker

asked the Minister of Technology whether he has agreed to the proposal for the establishment of plants in Great Britain by the Soviet economic authorities, for the assembly of Soviet machinery and equipment; how many such plants are planned; what will be the scope of their activities; and how many people he expects to be employed.

Mr. Varley:

I am aware of a proposal by a Russian organisation to set up a service, repair and maintenance depot for earth-moving and similar equipment in the Doncaster area. Details of the expected employment are confidential. I am not aware of any proposals for further depots.
