asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will estimate the average occupancy of new houses in England and Wales and that for the houses in the public and private sectors, respectively.

Mr. Greenwood:

No separate figures are available for new houses. Altogether, however, in 1966 (in England and Wales) there were on average 0.70 persons per room living in local authority dwellings and 0.54 persons per room in privately-owned dwellings.
