asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what recent studies he has initiated into the restructuring of income tax and surtax.

Mr. Diamond:

As my right hon. Friend stated in his Budget Speech, when referring to the problem of small surtax-payers, possible alternatives to the present system are being studied.
