Mr. Stodart

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many applications his Department received during 1969 for grants in respect of the purchase of new tractors and self-propelled machines, and of work done under each of the schemes affected by the unified Farm Capital Grant Scheme.

Mr. Mackie:

In 1969 the Department received 27,254 applications for investment grant on tractors and self-propelled harvesters in England and Wales. The total number of applications in England and Wales approved during 1969 under schemes which will be affected by the proposed Farm Capital Grant Scheme was 72,354, made un as follows:
