Mr. Hobden

asked the Minister of Transport how much money has been received by omnibus undertakings in the Brighton area in each of the last 10 years for fuel rebates, new bus grants and infrastructure grants; and if he will give an estimate for the year 1970.

Mr. Murray:

One of the three undertakings concerned, Southdown Motor Services Ltd., operates in large areas of Hampshire and West Sussex as well as It Brighton and it is not possible to isolate the totals of these grants for the Brighton area alone. No infrastructure grants, payable from October, 1968, have teen paid. It is not possible to estimate the amount of grant for the 1970–71 financial year, other than for bus fuel grant.

The payments made for bus fuel grants and new bus grants are as follows:
