Mr. Lubbock

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many men aged 45 years or over who have been unemployed for more than six months are included on the Professional and Executive Register; and how this compares with those under 45 years of age.

Of the total of 14,870 men in the unemployed section of the Register on 23rd February, 1970, 6,883 were aged 45 or over and of those 2,201 (including 659 who were 60 or over) had been unemployed for more than 6 months. The corresponding figures for those under 45 were 7,987 and 994.
