Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state, for the latest convenient period of three months, the number of persons admitted for settlement from the Commonwealth; and how this figure compares with figures for the corresponding periods in the previous three years.

During the three months ending on 28th February 6,362 Commonwealth citizens were admitted for settlement. The figures for the corresponding period in the previous three years were as follows:

10,707 14,718 9,624
United Kingdom passport holders are not included in these figures.
