HC Deb 16 April 1970 vol 799 cc264-5W
37. Mr. Hastings

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what questions are put to aliens by the immigration authorities at Great Britain's ports and airports; and what is their purpose.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The purpose of questions put to aliens seeking leave to land is to establish whether they may properly be granted leave. The rules governing the entry of aliens are set out in a White Paper, Cmnd. 4296, presented in February, 1970.
