HC Deb 15 April 1970 vol 799 cc234-5W
25. Mr. John Wells

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he is taking to counter the proposals of the Eire Department of Agriculture to dump produce such as tomatoes on the British market, in view of the evidence sent to him by the hon. Member for Maidstone on 24th March.

Mr. Hoy

The hon. Member sent me a recent Press release by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Dublin, announcing the resumption of their scheme of grants for glasshouse nurseries. In our view this is no indication of intent to dump produce here. In any field, however, if the United Kingdom industry has evidence of dumped or subsidised imports causing or threatening material injury my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade is prepared promptly to consider an application from them for anti-dumping action.
