asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what is the number of building trade workers in Sunderland who are at present unemployed; and what was the corresponding figure 12 months ago.

The total numbers registered as unemployed in the area covered by the Sunderland, Pallion and Southwick Employment Exchanges who last worked in construction—minimum list heading 500 of the Standard Industrial Classification—were 1,634 at 9th March, 1970, and 1,655 at 10th March, 1969.
