HC Deb 14 April 1970 vol 799 c210W
Mr. Michael Heseltine

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will take steps to ensure that in future restriction signs should be sited at a point which still allows means of egress or an alternative route for a prohibited vehicle, in view of the fact that advance warning signs are frequently overlooked.

Mr. Bob Brown

Putting such signs anywhere other than where the restriction applies would confuse drivers and add greatly to the difficulties of enforcement.
