asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will break down the total sum of £4,843,010 provided as grants by the Scottish Education Department for storm damage relief to show the donees and the amount each donee received and to show in which areas the grants were made.

Mr. Ross

From the £4,843,010 provided for the Scottish Development Department in the Civil Estimates, 1968–69 and 1969–70, Class VI 2, £371,814 has been repaid to the Ministry of Defence and other Departments for assistance given in kind, and £3,036,541 has been paid in grants to the following local authorities. The Scottish Education Department has made no such payments:
