Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many cattle have been slaughtered, and how much compensation paid, under the Brucellosis Eradication Scheme in each year since the scheme started.

The figures from the start of the Brucellosis (Accredited Herds) Scheme to 31st March, 1970 are:

ANIMALS SLAUGHTERED AT OFFICIAL BLOOD TEST OR ON REINFECTION, AND COMPENSATION PAID IN EACH FINANCIAL YEAR.
