HC Deb 13 April 1970 vol 799 c166W
75. Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will express as a weekly average the increase in tax revenue which has been collected by the Government between 1964 and the most recent annual period for which estimates are available.

Mr. Taverne

The estimated weekly average of the difference, at constant prices, between Central Government tax revenue in calendar 1964 and calendar 1969 is £73 million.

This change mainly reflects some of the measures by which the Government achieved the transformation of the record balance of payments deficit of 1964 into the record surplus of 1969.
