52. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT as full and detailed information as may be readily available to show on comparable terms how each and all of the various social welfare benefits have improved on an annual basis since October 1964 with the same period immediately prior to October 1964.

Notes

(1) Retirement pension, including wife's pension on husband's insurance, may be augmented by a graduated element and by increments earned by deferring retirement beyond minimum pension age.

(2) Since October, 1966 earnings related supplement has been payable with unemployment and sickness benefit. For a single man this can amount to as much as £7 a week.

(3) For supplementary benefit scales are exclusive of rent, for which separate provision is made in the assessment of individual rates.
