HC Deb 13 April 1970 vol 799 c185W
Mr. Alan Lee Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Local Government and Regional Planning whether the Government accept the conclusions of Professor Peston's pilot feasibility study, a copy of which is in his possession, about a cost/benefit assessment of a maritime industrial development area in this country; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Crosland

Yes. The Government hope to arrange for a detailed economic cost/benefit study of the M.I.D.A. concept, of creating major industrial areas in close proximity to deep water ports, along the lines proposed by Professor Peston. It is estimated that the study will take some 2–2½ years to complete.
