§ Mr. Brooksasked the President of the Board of Trade what is the present number of light aircraft owned by private 194W individuals in Great Britain; how many light private aircraft, including foreign ones, were recorded as having landed in Great Britain in 1969; and what safety precautions are taken to ensure that light aircraft traffic avoids commercial airliners.
§ Mr. Goronwy Roberts1,232 aircraft of an all-up-weight of 6,000 lb. and below are registered by the Board of Trade in the name of private individuals in Great Britain, in addition there are some 342 privately-owned gliders registered with the British Gliding Association; as regards the second part, information is not available in the form required but for the airports at which almost all the commercial flying in Great Britain takes place there were about 250,000 landings in 1969 of aircraft on private, aero-club and local pleasure flights; as regards the third part, air traffic control rules and regulations apply which are designed to protect all traffic and do not distinguish between aircraft by weight. Public transport aircraft operate mainly along the airways and in other controlled airspace in which aircraft are allowed only if they are suitably equipped and their pilots suitably licensed. Extensive information and advisory services are also provided to assist the safety of air operations.
