asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the number of applicants to the Ulster Defence Regiment who have been rejected without prior interview with their respective referees.

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many applicants to join the Ulster Defence Regiment have been refused to date.

Mr. Hattersley

As at 3rd April, 440 applications to join the Ulster Defence Regiment had been rejected. As regards the last part of his Question I would refer the hon. Member for Fermanagh and South Tyrone to my answer on 25th March.—[Vol. 798, c.415.]
