HC Deb 09 April 1970 vol 799 cc107-8W
Mr. van Straubenzee

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the estimated annual percentage increase in the entry of students to full-time courses of higher education in universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other colleges of further education, respectively, between 1968–69 and 1971–72.

Mr. Fowler

The average annual percentage increase between 1968–69 and 1971–72 in the entry of students to full-time courses in universities in Great Britain is projected to be about 5 per cent. The corresponding figure for sandwich and full-time advanced courses in all colleges of further education (includ- ing polytechnics) is also about 5 per cent. The average annual increase in the entry to colleges of education will be rather less than 1 per cent.
