HC Deb 09 April 1970 vol 799 cc105-6W
50 and 51. Mr. Goodhart

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) what estimate he has made of the number of students receiving higher education who have illegitimate children;

(2) what estimate he has made of the number of students receiving higher education who need additional financial support for members of the opposite sex with whom they are cohabiting.

Mr. Fowler

In both cases the answer is "None". I understand that a few students, probably not more than 10, who are living with a member of the opposite sex, have received assistance from the Supplementary Benefits Commission for their dependants during the last year. This was paid under arrangements initiated by the Conservative Government in 1964.
