§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will state the number of deaths which have occurred in the Portland Borstal Centre during the past six months; when these occurred; and what was the cause of death in each instance.
§ Mr. Elystan MorganDuring the past six months, two trainees at Portland Borstal have died. The first death, on 8th August, was due to pressure on the brain following a haemorrhage. The Inquest has been adjourned, and another trainee charged with murder. The matter is thussub judice.
The second death, on 8th September, was due to natural causes.
