§ 57. Mr. Gordon Campbellasked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he will reconsider the proposal that persons resident in areas which cannot receive B.B.C.2 should pay a reduced 196W rate for their television licences, now that separate radio licences are to be abolished.
§ Mr. StonehouseNo, this would be impracticable. The average capital cost per household of providing B.B.C.2 in these areas where reception is now possible is approximately £0.67. For those areas remaining to be served, including Moray and Nairn, the average capital cost will be about £8 per household.
