HC Deb 21 October 1969 vol 788 c214W
Mr. J. E. B. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which local education authorities have not complied with his request to submit plans for the reorganisation of secondary education within the terms of Circular 10 /65, stating in each case where known the reasons given for non-compliance.

Miss Bacon

Eight local education authorities which were not in agreement with Circular 10/65—Bolton, Bournemouth, Bury, Kingston-upon-Thames, Richmond-upon-Thames, Rutland, Westmorland, and Worcester—have declined to submit a plan. Eight authorities—Bexley, Bootle, Buckinghamshire, Leeds, Norfolk, Salford, Torbay and Warley—have not yet submitted plans but I expect one shortly from Leeds and the other authorities are, I understand, examining possible ways of making progress. Nine authorities—Birmingham, Gloucester, Hillingdon, Harrow, Nottingham, Reading, Southend-on-Sea, Sutton and Wolverhampton—have had plans referred back to them and have not vet submitted revised proposals.
