HC Deb 21 October 1969 vol 788 cc229-30W
Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Minister of Technology whether, in view of the recent decline in the home market for motor cars and the probability of unemployment in the motor industry in the winter, he will take steps to lessen the restrictions on the home market.

Mr. Benn

New car registrations in recent months are showing signs of some improvement in home market demand. Short-time working is at a lower level than in the corresponding periods of the last two years. I am continuing to keep a close watch on developments.
