§ Mrs. Ewingasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is the maximum improvement grant in England and Wales; and what plans he has to increase the maximum.
§ Mr. FreesonThe Housing Act 1969 has just raised the maximum improvement grants considerably. They are now £1,200 (previously £500) for each dwelling provided by the conversion of a property of three or more storeys, and £1,000 (previously £400) a dwelling for other conversions and improvements. My right hon. Friend can increase these limits either for a particular case or for a class of case if the local authority making the grant are satisfied there are good reasons for doing so.
