asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a further statement on the application for a Service pension made by Flight Lieutenant W. N. Cockayne (retired) of Fowey, Cornwall, details of which have been sent to him.

Since my hon. Friend last raised this case with me in the House, Flight Lieutenant Cockayne has made a further claim for a war pension in more precise terms. This claim is being dealt with and in the very near future Flight Lieutenant Cockayne will be examined by a consultant who is quite independent of my Department and the claim will be decided in the light of his advice.

I have written to my hon. Friend giving him fuller details of the position.
