§ Mr. Eadieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects the Longannet coal-fired power station to be in operation; when he expects the Hunterston B nuclear station to be in operation; and what he estimates will be the cost per unit sent out from each.
§ Mr. RossGeneration of electricity is expected to start at Longannet about the end of this year and from Hunterston B early in 1973. On the basis of a 30-year life with interest at 8 per cent. the South170W of Scotland Electricity Board estimate that the cost of electricity to be sent out from Longannet will be 0.60d. per unit. I gave the estimated cost of electricity to be sent out from Hunterston B in reply to my hon. Friend on 1st April, 1969.—[Vol. 781, c. 79–80.]
