Sir Clive Bossomasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he intends to introduce legislation on fire in hotels; and, in the meantime, what steps are being taken to assist hotel management in carrying out their responsibilities for training staff, especially foreign staff, in the use of fire-fighting equipment and the installation of alarm systems.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesLegislation designed to strengthen and rationalise the law relating to fire precautions in places of public resort and certain residential establishments, including hotels, will be introduced as soon as Parliamentary time permits. Advice on all fire prevention matters is freely available to hotel managements on request from fire authorities.
