§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what are the results of the proposals of Her Majesty's Government to obtain economies in United Nations expenditure.
§ Mr. LuardHer Majesty's Government have made clear their concern at the continuing increase in the United Nations budget and their desire that the funds voted should be used with the maximum efficiency. The Secretary General has stated that, in drawing up his budget proposals for 1970, which are now under debate in the General Assembly, he has had regard to the concern voiced by some member Governments—including Her Majesty's Government—at the growth of the budget in recent years, and to the call for a survey of manpower utilisation and deployment, which is now being made in the Secretariat.
