§ Mr. James Johnsonasked the Minister of Overseas Development what schemes of aid and technical assistance she is proposing for Somalia in the coming financial year.
§ Mrs. HartSince diplomatic relations were resumed with Somalia in 1968, a Technical Assistance Programme has been built up which it is estimated may108W amount to about £200,000 in the coming financial year, though this will in part depend on housing being available for our personnel in Somalia. This includes the training of Somali students in Britain, and the provision of a British veterinary team which has already begun to work in Somalia. A grant of £56,000 will also be made to help Somalia to fulfil its pensions obligations to officers of the former British Somaliland Protectorate.
