§ Mr. Juddasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will hold renewed discussions with the Services, civilian authorities and voluntary organisations with a view to establishing a National Rescue Service.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesA committee set up by my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade is reviewing the marine search and rescue organisation in the United Kingdom. Rescue operations of other kinds are handled by the local emergency services, with such help from voluntary bodies and Service formations in the area as may be required; and I have no reason to believe that the arrangements for co-ordination are inadequate.
