HC Deb 13 October 1969 vol 788 cc20-1W
60. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps are to be taken to expand and reduce overcrowding at St. George's Hospital, Morpeth, in view of the deterioration in the services it offers to the North-East.

Mr. Crossman

A new 40-bed unit is to be opened at the hospital in the next few weeks and further beds are planned.

The Regional Hospital Board has plans for extension of geriatric services in the area which will significantly reduce pressure on the hospital.
