asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will look into the possibility of speeding up Export Credits Guarantee Department procedure.

Mr. Mason

As with any commercial business, the great mass of straightforward requests for cover is dealt with speadily by E.C.G.D. More complicated transactions which often involve the precise examination of contracts of very high value inevitably take longer. The Department is generally considered to maintain a high standard of speed and efficiency, but if the hon. Member has a specific case or suggestion in mind I shall be pleased to look into it.
