HC Deb 26 November 1969 vol 792 cc91-2W
72. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that a ship testing the Sussex rocky coast at Blackrock for the purpose of preparing plans for a marina base on 22nd October, 1969, was impaled on the rocks there, if he will set up an inquiry into the incident and into the effect of the shape of the coastline on navigation in the area; and if he will make a statement on the injury, loss of life and property which was thereby caused.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

No casualty at Blackrock has been reported, but I understand that recently a ship was deliberately grounded there for the purpose of making a test boring. I am advised that the coast line in the Blackrock area does not present any particular danger to navigation.
