HC Deb 26 November 1969 vol 792 cc90-1W
69. Mr. Lipton

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the minimum height at which aircraft to and from Heathrow Airport are permitted to fly over central London.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

Aircraft arriving at Heathrow are required not to descend below 2,000 feet before intercepting the glide path, unless otherwise directed by air traffic control. Departing jet aircraft are required, after passing the relevant monitoring point at a minimum altitude of 1,000 feet, to maintain a rate of climb of at least 500 feet per minute.
