§ Mr. Dewarasked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what consultations he has had with the chief constables in whose areas the South African Rugby team have 388W games; and whether he will seek to arrange that they should attend the conference being called by the Secretary of State for the Home Department following recent incidents at Swansea;
(2) what advice he has given the police about the use of stewards or vigilantes at the South African Rugby team's games in Scotland.
§ Mr. RossI have invited the Chief Constables of Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Berwick, Roxburgh and Selkirk, in whose areas matches against the Springboks are to be played, to attend the conference referred to, which is being held on Monday, 24th November, and at which my hon. Friend the Joint Under-Secretary of State for Scotland will be present. No advice has been issued to the police about the use of stewards or vigilantes but this is one of the matters which will be discussed at the conference.
