Dame Irene Wardasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what financial steps he is taking to safeguard the future of the Tyneside Film Theatre in view of its contribution to education among schoolchildren and the opportunity it gives to creating an interest in the complex of knowledge for use in leisure time.
Miss Jennie LeeaThe future of the Tyneside Film Theatre is matter primarily for the British Film Institute, which is free, within the financial limits laid down by the Government, to decide how it should spend the very considerable Government grant it receives annually. This year this amounts to £525,000.
