§ Mr. Rhodesasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the policy of the Government with regard to Recommendation No. 571 on the introduction 321W between member states of simplified Customs arrangements in respect of goods carried in travellers' luggage or contained in gift parcels, which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 2nd October, 1969; and whether they will comply with the proposals made in paragraph 4 of this recommendation.
§ Mr.TaverneSo far as Customs concessions for articles carried in travellers' baggage are concerned, the United Kingdom has for some years operated measures of the kind recommended, although the reliefs given differ in amount from those advocated in the recommendation.
